Since coming to visit my mom, Josh has begun to smile. Last night I got the biggest smiles yet and my niece Jenelle was right there to take some pictures for me.

Aaron won the bet. Josh weighs 9 lbs 4 oz now. He almost doubled his weight in 2 months. He was only 4 lbs 15 oz when we brought him home from the hospital.

I can't believe Josh is going to be 2 months old tomorrow. We find out on Friday how much he weighs. I'm guessing 8lbs and Aaron's guessing 9lbs. Gabriel put the rattle in the picture at the last minute. It was cute he was trying to help me get Josh to look at the camera. :)

Okay, for someone who never takes any medicine, I wanted to take a picture of all the medicine I'm prescribed to take in the mornings for a little over a week or so. This seems like just craziness to me. The white ones are different pain killers that I only need to take as needed so hopefully I won't have to continue to take those much longer.

I'm HOME from the hospital

Okay, so I'm home already and feeling TONS better! I guess I'll have to tell the juicy details which is quite long. For those of you who don't know, I had severe hematuria a few days while pregnant (bloody urine). I went through tons of tests, all inconclusive. This past Wednesday night, I started having really BAD back pain like I've never had before only on my right side. I showed Aaron where it hurt and he said, "That's where your kidney is, you might have a kidney stone". (I love my husband's medical knowledge). I thought yeah right and continued to go on as best I could with the back pain. After the second time feeding Josh at 4am I couldn't sit, stand, bend over, lay down, basically be in any position where my back wasn't KILLING me. We got bags ready to go into the ER and by 6am I was checking in. I got to give urine tests, blood tests, got an iv, got some pain medicine, did a pregnancy test (yeah right) and finally got a CT scan. When the PA in the ER got the results of the CT, she came into my little room and said, "Well, you have a HUGE kidney stone." She explained that usually stones over 5mm were referred to urology to see if they wanted to break them up to make them easier to pass and mine was 6mm. So she had the urologist on call take a look at it and he decided that since my pain medicine was working, he'd send me home with pain pills and see if I could pass it on my own since other people have been known to pass 6mm stones on their own. (Have those people been only 100 pounds I wonder?) So I get to go home with pain pills. Soon after being home, the pain started to increase. Even on two types of heavy pain killers. Then the nausea started to set in. Then the chills and fever. I decided to try and make it through the night for the stone to pass. At 6am Aaron was about to leave for work and I got up to go to the bathroom and could not function. He brought me some pain medicine and some milk to go with it hoping it would help. I was so sick about 10 minutes later I threw up. Josh was hungry to eat, I was in so much pain I couldn't move and I felt constant nausea. Aaron decided not to go into work and I tried to get rid of the chills and was finally able to go back to sleep. When I woke up, Aaron explained he'd gotten me an appt. with the urologist. When it was time to leave, Aaron couldn't find his wallet and keys. Hmmmmm....where were they? He looked for about 45 minutes. So we were a little late to our appt. but the urologist was still in the OR anyways so we still had to wait. Luckily, I was in SOOOO much pain the checkin nurse let me go back to a room not being used and let me lay down with blankets to wait. I could hardly walk or sit. Finally the urologist was able to meet with us. He explained that he wanted to put a stent in for a few weeks and that would help with the nausea and after a few weeks, he would operate on the stone. I asked, can't you operate on the stone today? He said he could not if I had an infection. So I gave a tiny urine sample (With a blocked kidney and vomiting, I hadn't been able to pee much) and he determined that I might not have an infection. So he was going to operate right away. YAY. So I get admitted, get changed, pump really fast (The pump has been my good friend the last few days) and go into the OR, talk with the anesthesiogists while I get my iv, and before I know it, I'm waking up without any nausea and the pain from my kidney stone gone. After only 9o minutes. I was AMAZED. They kept me at the hospital overnight and I was feeling great so they sent me home this afternoon. Due to all of the anesthesia and the antibiotics in my iv, I cannot breastfeed Josh until tomorrow afternoon. So have been pumping and pooring my precious breast milk down the drain. Luckily I have some frozen breast milk and a few things of free formula we got in the mail to last us until tomorrow. So now the only pain I have to deal with is a scratchy throat from the anesthesia tube, and a sore urethra (sp?) since they had to put wires and scopes up me and such. So it BURNS to pee. Lucky me. I have a stent in because while operating, the urologist noticed the large stone was stuck at some scar tissue in my tube that was probably there from a previous stone and the stent will help prevent further scarring. I get it out on the 18th. Side effects: frequent, bloody, and burning urination. But nothing compared to the 36 hours of horrid pain and sickness that I went through with the kidney stone. I feel SOOOOO much better now! I'm just sad we had to miss our weekend vacation to San Antonio this weekend. An 8 hours car ride each way does not sound fun with the side effects I just mentioned. Sorry everybody who won't get to see Josh this weekend!

Jenni gets a kidney stone

Jenni is in the hospital right now, so this is my first attempt at blogging on her site. She got a kidney stone and needed surgery to break up the stone and place a stent. She now feels much better, has a lot of pain medicine and is on the road to recovery. I'll let Jenni fill in all the juicy details. Our prayers are with her.

With her permission, this is her CT scan. The big white "U" is the bones of her pelvis and the white dot is her stone. Ouch!

Carrie Underwood

The Carrie Underwood concert was awsome! Little Big Town opened. They can sure harmonize! And Carrie Underwood has AMAZING vocals. No wonder I voted for her every week on American Idol. She put on a great show.

Gabriel Making Cupcakes

Gabriel is so observant. Since I left out the cupcake stuff when I made cupcakes on Halloween, Gabriel put wrappers into the pan, grabbed the oven mitts, and put the pan into the oven (not hot at the time). When Aaron noticed what he was doing, he yelled for me to grab the camera. It was cute.

My Kids on Halloween

Halloween was a fun day. Aaron was home by 5:00 and we went to Albertsons to get some Hallween candy, ate some Subway, got our kids dressed up in costume and took them trick-or-treating. Gabriel had a blast running from house to house and asking for candy by saying, "Twit o Teet" in his really cute voice. And he LOVED all the decorations. Luckily most people have rock yards here so I didn't have to worry about him running across their grass to check out every decoration. Once we got home, he continued to say "Twit o Teet" to us so we'd give him our candy we'd bought for other trick-or-treaters. Then in the morning, he found the candy right away since we'd forgotten to put it out of sight and ran to us to open his "Twit o Teet". He thinks that's what that candy is called. It's so cute.

Halloween PlayDate

Gabriel his friend Stella over for a Halloween playdate on Friday. They played so good together. They colored, made cupcakes, ate PB&Js, and just played and had a great time. They looked so cute together in everything they did with their black Halloween shirts and jeans.
