Throwing Things

So Gabriel has loved throwing things for a long time now. I don't really like it. But sometimes it can be cute. Just today, he realized that he could throw things through the opening in the wall between our kitchen eating area and living room (You can see the opening in the picture of Gabe and me a few posts below). He spent about 30 minutes today throwing things through the opening. It cracks me up. As long as things aren't headed my direction, or anyone else's for that matter, it is cute that he likes to throw things.

Creativity Begins

Gabriel has been doing some very creative things recently that I would never even think of to show him. My favorite thing he does is grab his tiny farm animals and stands them up in between the spikes on the back of his dinosaur. He can do that for hours. Where did he think of that? Then on Sunday, he wanted to read books, so he grabbed the wheel of Aaron's Indo Board and used it as a log to read on. Now this Aaron and I have definitely never done since we couldn't really even bend down low enough to sit on the wheel. How Gabriel thinks to do these things is beyond me, but it makes him happy.

Gabriel Loves his Parents

More cousins to visit!

So Gabriel had three more cousins pass through our way last night. Sadly, we forgot to take pictures, but he had TONS of fun playing with Tyler, Ryan, and Alyssa. When they rang the doorbell, he ran to the door, and when the three of them all came inside, Gabriel started doing the happy dance. Literally. Jumping up and down on his tippy toes while laughing. They played and played and played until almost ten o'clock at night! He did not want to go to bed even though it was WAY past his bedtime. So we're really glad they came. Gabriel was sad to see them leave this morning. We miss you Mel, Blake, Tyler, Ryan, and Alyssa!

Swim Class

Gabriel and I have been doing a parent and baby swim class together. On nights when Aaron is home, he comes too. It is three nights a week for two weeks. Gabriel has gone to 4 sessions and has become so much more comfortable in the water. He LOVES to walk along the wall (not that exciting). Yesterday, he swam towards rings with just one of my hands under his belly, kicking and paddling. But he HATES when I try to have him float on his back. He also loves to do "Ring around the Rosies" and go under the water together when we "All fall down". Aaron swims around with him on his back and they go under the water together like dolphins. It is the cutest thing and it has been a fun activity for us to do.

Internship Week 2

Okay, so this is more what I expected internship to be...72 hours in one week! And this next week will probably be even more since he has two call nights scheduled this week (26-28 hours shifts). Even though I expected this many hours, it doesn't make it any easier. It was a tough week for me with Gabriel having a fever for two of the days and me having bladder problems for the next two days. So we couldn't leave the house all week. This week should be much better. We have lots of activities planned.

Diablos Game

On the evening of the 4th, we decided to check out our local farm team, El Paso Diablos. Their stadium is about 3 miles from our house. We were lucky enough to get front row box seats! I don't know how that happened, but it worked great for Gabriel and his short attention span and not being able to hold still. The fireworks were awesome and even though we were one of the first ones back to our car (we left the park while the fireworks were still going), it still took us 90 minutes to get out of the parking lot and get home. What a nightmare! They are not used to a sold out crowd I guess and did not have any policemen or parking ushers to help people get out of there.

In between innings, the mascot (a bird) would come out and do a dance. Gabriel CRACKED up every time.

Finally, the fireworks. Gabriel LOVED them! Lots of oohs and ahhs. We forgot his binky, which he usually gets only in his crib or the car, and as he got tired (a very late night for him), you can see he wanted to suck on his fingers.

White Sands National Park

Is it snow or is it sand? It's hard to tell by looking at it. But it is the desert, so it must be sand. We spent the day on the 4th driving approx 90 minutes to the white sand dunes. Gabriel had a blast sliding down the dunes in the snosaucer. We were lucky enough to meet a family traveling from Canada who gave us their snosaucer since they were leaving and didn't want to fit it in their vehicle. It almost felt like we were at the beach, except we live HUNDREDS of MILES from the ocean, so no water here. I'm so glad Aaron had the weekend off.

The cousins come to Visit!

Last weekend, some of Gabriel's cousins came to visit on their way from San Antonio to California. It was only a few hours, but Gabe was happy to see them and they all had a blast playing together. And Gabe was VERY sad to see them go.

Gabriel and Narci jumped in the pool with their clothes on! I forgot it still had water in it when we sent to kids outside to play.

So why not turn the visit into a pool party? Poor Malikai and Kylie didn't have much room to move around. Four kids is a lot to fit in that tiny little pool. I think they had fun anyways though before they got back into the car to continue their roadtrip.

After the pool party, we tried getting Gabe and Narci to pose for a picture in their matching Elmo T-shirts. They weren't very cooperative. Here's the best we got.

First week of Internship

Okay, so Aaron started his internship on July 1st and had a busy couple of days. 26 1/2 hours in only two days!! And then....four days off. How did that happen? How awesome is that? Monday starts week 2 and I have a feeling that we won't be so lucky over the next 11 1/2 months.

Ankle Update

Here's some pictures of Aaron's ankle one week after the incident. All black and blue! Now that two weeks have passed, it's still not easy to walk on. Maybe another trip to the doctor?
